Job Description
The Human Resources – Summer Student will be based out of the Calgary office and will provide general support to the overall Human Resources function in Calgary and Edmonton. The role receives direction from certain members of the Human Resources team, and will maintain relationships within the assigned group and employees of the organization, as required.
This is a 4 month position from May to end of August.
Please note this position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares New Hire information package, including coordinating of printing and ordering of 3rd party pamphlets as required;
Assists with conducting of New Hire Orientation sessions;
Maintains and audits personnel files, and assists with archiving of both electronic and hard copy files, and organization of the file room;
Responds promptly to candidate, employee, and Hiring Manager inquiries;
Creates and posts job descriptions, and creates interview guides;
Conducts pre-screen telephone interviews and reference checks;
Provides support in interview process, including the scheduling of interviews;
Responsible for completion of Authorization to Hire forms and offer packages;
Inputs data to Recom for new hire entries, transfers and terminations;
Prepares employment verification letters;
Maintains and updates various spreadsheets used to track recruitment and other initiatives;
Assists with Training and Tuition Expediture form process, and other training activities and initiatives; and
All other adhoc job duties as required;
Qualifications
Enrollment in a University or Post-secondary program (preferably HR oriented) is an asset;
Prior administrative experience is a definite asset;
Must display the flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to complete various HR-related tasks;
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and superb interpersonal skills;
Strong work ethic, a high respect for confidentiality and sound professional judgment and initiative; and
Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
