Job Role: Design Lead Checker -Substation/Renewables (Civil & Structural)

Reports to: Project Engineering Manager (Civil & Structural)

Reportee: (Job Role): Design Engineer, Draughtsperson

Minimum Qualification Experience: B.E. / B. Tech. / M. Tech. in Civil

Engineering: 8- 10 years (Experience in Civil & structural design aspects in Substation / Renewable Projects)

Objective:

As the Lead Checker - Civil & Structural, the incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all civil & structural drawings, calculations, and engineering deliverables before submission to the client. The role requires adherence to project schedules, allocated man-hours, applicable codes, standards, and client specifications while minimizing engineering errors and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs. The Lead Checker shall also support engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle and provide technical guidance to engineers and draftspersons.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and check civil & structural drawings, calculations, BOQs, and deliverables for technical correctness, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure adherence to client specifications, applicable codes, standards, and company quality procedures.
• Verify deliverables related to buildings, foundations, equipment structures, gantries, roads, drainage systems, and cable trenches.
• Perform inter-disciplinary checks and coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, and other disciplines to ensure consistency and clash-free designs.
• Review and close internal/client comments prior to submission.
• Support engineers and draftspersons in resolving technical issues and improving deliverable quality.
• Provide technical clarifications to project, site execution, supply chain, and client teams as required.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of checked deliverables with minimum errors and revisions.
• Support pre-bid, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and warranty-phase activities from a quality assurance perspective.

**Education & Experience:**

• Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech.) or Master's degree (M.Tech.) in Civil Engineering
• 8–10 years of experience in civil and structural as owners engineer for review of Substation and Renewable Energy deliverables.

**Technical Expertise:**

• Comprehensive knowledge of RCC and steel structures
• Proficiency in outdoor gantry and equipment structures design
• Detailed understanding of substation equipment, layouts, and transmission line foundations
• Knowledge of site grading, drainage systems, roads, and cable trenches
• Expertise in transformer foundations and electrical equipment specifications
• Thorough understanding of civil and structural drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and equipment layouts

**Software Proficiency:**

• Proficient: STAAD Pro., AutoCAD, REVIT
• Competent: ETABS, TEKLA
• Working knowledge: SAP
