Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer who is passionate about driving products from concept to high volume manufacturing. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Platform Design, Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners, and cross functional teams to ensure successful product launches. You will also design and develop tooling, test fixtures, and jigs to support scalable, high volume production.
Who You’ll Work With
As a Mechanical NPI Engineer, you will partner with Hardware, Mechanical, and Thermal Engineering leaders to advance product development, manufacturing readiness, and supplier strategy for high performance networking equipment. You will serve as a critical link between design, NPI, and full scale production, ensuring seamless
transitions throughout the product lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross functional engineering teams, supplier management, and contract manufacturers to develop manufacturing processes, perform DFX reviews, manage product lifecycle activities, and provide sustaining support for Arista’s portfolio.
Your collaboration will extend to a broad supplier, including partners specializing in metals, plastics, die casting, high speed cables, air and liquid cooling thermal solutions, optics, fiber connectivity, and other electromechanical components essential to our products. You will also interface directly with customers as needed to support product
integration and performance requirements
What You’ll Do
You will play a key role in bringing new products to market with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will drive cross functional collaboration and provide technical leadership throughout the NPI process.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead NPI activities from prototype builds through production ramp, ensuring smooth transitions and highquality outcomes.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to support scalable, efficient, and repeatable production
- Apply strong electromechanical manufacturing expertise and drive DFM and Design for Cost improvements across mechanical and E/M components.
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality and process issues at contract manufacturers and suppliers, and drive effective corrective actions.
- Lead assembly process development to ensure high quality, efficient manufacturing workflows.
- Engage early with Hardware and Mechanical Engineering teams to identify risks, resolve build challenges, and improve yield, quality, and cost.
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids to support highvolume manufacturing.
- Manage BOMs, Deviations, MCOs, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with strict version and revision control.
- Utilize PLM systems (Agile, Propel) to manage product lifecycle documentation and workflows.
- Support the full NPI lifecycle—from early prototyping through production release and sustaining.
- Drive data center equipment lifecycle management with a focus on manufacturability and longterm sustainability.
- Develop and implement best practices to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure material readiness and supplier capability.
- Optimize inventory management to reduce waste and improve production throughput.
Qualifications
- 1-3+ years of experience in Mechanical De Manufacturing Product, Process, or NPI Engineering in electronics manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in networking products related to routing, switching and data center.
- Expert knowledge in ECO, BOM and Deviation processes, (Agile experience a plus).
- Solid working knowledge of DFx (DFM, DFA, DFT, DFQ and/or DFR), production fixturing, inspection processes, and overall manufacturing quality control.
- Strong knowledge of basic manufacturing processes including CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal production, coating technologies and finishing operations.
- Knowledge of packaging materials and processes.
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturers and Supply Chain vendors in Asia.
- Ability to establish technical direction through the investigation and evaluation of new manufacturing technologies.
- Ability to understand and create tolerance stack-up of parts and assemblies.
- Work independently and as a strong team player: be detail oriented, organized and hands-on.
- Working knowledge of lab equipment and tools.
- Proficient in Creo.
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Some travel is required.
Nice to Have:
- Hands‑on experience with cold‑plate and liquid‑cooling network systems
- Background in automated test stations or tooling that integrates sensors and software interfaces
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automating test fixtures and data acquisition
- Familiarity with PLM platforms such as Propel, Agile PLM, or Windchill PDMLink
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $110,000 to $175,000 and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
