Job Description

We are seeking a Materials Controller to be responsible for providing effective operational and administrative support across material flow, ERP system management, logistics coordination, and inventory control to ensure continuity of supply and production efficiency. 

Based within our Element Six UK Harwell site, the role supports planning and manufacturing operations by maintaining accurate system data, coordinating shipments, managing work orders, and enforcing inventory discipline in accordance with Element Six standards. 

Duties & Tasks

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments in line with production and customer delivery requirements 
  • Prepare, pack, and dispatch products in accordance with company procedures and UK compliance standards 
  • Ensure all shipping and export documentation meets regulatory and customs requirements 
  • Generate and maintain daily orderbooks 
  • Update MRP data on a regular basis to ensure planning accuracy 
  • Issue, manage, and close work orders (WOs) in line with production schedules 
  • Support resolution and closure of aged or overdue work orders 
  • Provide administrative support for subcontracted services where required 
  • Conduct routine cycle counts in accordance with inventory policies 
  • Investigate discrepancies and support root cause analysis 
  • Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy, traceability, and stock control 
  • Maintain accurate and timely transactional data within ERP and logistics systems 
  • Ensure “right first time” data entry and adherence to system governance 
  • Collaborate with planners and operations teams to resolve data or system issues 
  • Ensure adherence to UK regulatory, export control, and internal compliance requirements 
  • Maintain 5S/6S standards within operational areas 
  • Comply fully with Element Six safety, quality, and environmental standards 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a materials control, logistics, or administrative role 
  • Experience working with ERP systems and inventory processes 
  • Experience in manufacturing or supply chain environments (desirable) 
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business systems 
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational environment 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 
  • Ability to work independently within defined accountability
