About the role
Support the end to end settlement activities for Ampol Singapore Trading (AST), ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, payment processing, cash application, and reconciliation of physical commodity transactions while maintaining compliance with internal controls and contractual requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time, eight month contract starting ASAP. We’re looking for curious, committed individuals ready to dive in and make the most of the experience—so please apply only if you’re available for the full duration.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Settlements
- Process third-party and intercompany purchase and sales invoices (provisional and final).
- Verify pricing, quantities, and contractual terms with counterparties.
- Generate and issue AR invoices accurately and on a timely basis.
- Process AP invoices and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
- Monitor special pricing adjustments and invoice amendments.
Accounts Receivable
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with counterparties.
- Perform daily cash application and allocation of receipts.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Support overdue collection activities.
Accounts Payable
- Review payment supporting documents.
- Prepare payment requests and coordinate with Treasury.
- Investigate rejected, returned, or failed payments.
- Maintain vendor banking details in accordance with internal controls.
Physical Trading Support
- Review supporting documents including contracts, nominations, bills of lading, inspection certificates and settlement statements.
- Process freight, demurrage, storage, inspection and other ancillary costs.
- Coordinate with Operations, Chartering, Trade Accounting, Middle Office and Treasury teams.
Reconciliations & Controls
- Maintain settlement trackers and ensure completeness of open items.
- Perform reconciliation of trade settlements and cash transactions.
- Investigate settlement breaks and resolve exceptions promptly.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
Month-End Activities
- Support month end close by ensuring invoices and settlements are processed within deadlines.
- Provide status of outstanding invoices, disputes and unmatched cash.
- Assist with audit requests and documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2-5 years' experience in commodity trading, shipping, trade finance, settlements, AR/AP or related finance functions.
- Understanding of physical commodities trading processes.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP and/or CTRM systems (SAP, Allegro, Aspect, Endur or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work across multiple time zones.
- Oil, gas, refined products or shipping industry experience.
- Experience with letters of credit, LOIs, freight and demurrage settlements.
