About the role 
As a Senior Internal Communications Specialist, you will lead the communications strategy and execution for Ampol’s Technology, Digital and Data (TDD) function, supporting around 400 employees across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Acting as the custodian of TDD’s narrative, you will shape and articulate the function’s purpose, vision and strategic value, ensuring it is clearly understood across the business and aligned to Ampol’s broader objectives.

This is a highly visible role working closely with the TDD Leadership team reporting through to Group Communications. You will translate complex, multi-source information into compelling, business-relevant narratives, support executive and board reporting, and drive engagement through impactful internal communications. More broadly, you will help embed Ampol values, positioning TDD as a critical enabler of Ampol’s strategy and transformation. 

This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Alexandria HQ. 
 
Key responsibilities 

  • Lead the development and execution of the internal communications strategy for TDD  
  • Own and evolve TDD’s overarching narrative, articulating strategic value and performance  
  • Synthesise inputs across Finance, Delivery, Cyber, Data and Strategy  
  • Translate technical updates into clear, business-focused messaging for non-technical audiences  
  • Deliver internal and change communications initiatives including town halls, newsletters and intranet content  
  • Align messaging with Ampol’s enterprise narrative  
  • Build and enhance TDD’s internal brand and profile across the organisation  
  • Support broader Group Communications initiatives as required 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to tailor messaging for senior executives, Board and employee audiences  
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to distil complexity into clear, compelling narratives  
  • Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, including CTO level  
  • Experience synthesising complex, multi-source data into strategic insights and communications  
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to lead programs across multiple senior stakeholders  
  • Experience in internal communications, change communications or corporate communications roles  
  • Ability to challenge constructively and drive outcomes through fact-based, persuasive communication  
  • Experience operating within a large, complex organisation 
  • Experience within a technology, digital or data function environment highly desirable  
  • Data visualisation capability and experience using AI-enabled tools highly desirable
