Job Description
This is a hands-on outdoor role based in a busy industrial metal recycling yard.
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team in Hamilton, ON! As a Material Flow Coordinator, you will be responsible for working in the yard inspecting inbound truck loads, identifying non-conforming materials, documenting findings, and coordinating with operations teams to maintain material quality standards.
Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions and communicating directly with drivers, inspectors, production teams, and sales teams in a fast-paced environment.
What you're responsible for:
- Inspecting inbound truck loads to identify material grades, non-conformities, non-recyclable and hazardous materials
- Assessing and documenting load quality and recording findings accurately
- Directing inbound trucks to appropriate yard locations safely and efficiently
- Performing daily yard quality checks, including pile inspections, truck inspections, gate cleanliness, and overnight load reviews
- Communicating material concerns, downgrades, and quality issues to operations and commercial teams
- Coordinating with production teams to ensure unwanted materials are removed promptly
- Verifying outbound material quality meets customer and sales specifications
- Supporting safe yard operations by following and enforcing quality and safety procedures
- Providing guidance and support to new inspectors on material identification and yard procedures
Qualifications
To join our team:
- You are experienced in working around heavy equipment
- You are comfortable with working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- You have strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- You have strong attention to detail and good work ethic
