Job Description

Under the supervision of the Shredder Foreman, the Crane Operator, using a wheeled crane, performs various material loadings as well as any other material handling requiring the use of the machine. The incumbent performs the different weighings of material entering or leaving the yard.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving metal and placing it in the appropriate area
  • Unloading trucks and checking the quality of the material
  • Bringing car bodies and other ferrous materials to the shredder loading area
  • Transporting bins of non‑ferrous materials
  • Loading ferrous products destined for customers
  • Performing identification tests on materials using the appropriate products or magnets
  • Evaluating cuts of items that are not sellable
  • Taking the physical inventory of stock material according to the established schedule
  • Recording in reports the weight of materials upon arrival and departure from the site
  • Greasing, as needed, the different parts of the machine requiring lubrication
  • Washing the machine when required

Qualifications

  • You hold a competency card for construction machinery
  • You hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • You have at least one year of experience in a similar role
  • You are bilingual (an asset)
  • You are conscientious about workplace Health and Safety

  • You have excellent communication skills
  • You enjoy teamwork
