Job Description
What will you be doing?
ALTEN UK is looking for Piping Design Engineers to join a high-impact programme in the Nuclear energy sector based in Warrington. You’ll play a key role in the design and optimisation of complex piping systems within power generation and industrial energy infrastructure. What will you be doing?
As a Piping Design Engineer, you will join Warrington team to support our activities within the Energy sector.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and optimise piping layouts to ensure safe and efficient fluid and gas transport within energy facilities such as power plants or refineries.
- Ensure piping systems comply with all relevant industry codes and safety standards.
- Conduct technical risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing effective design solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated, compliant, and constructible designs.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, calculations, and reports to support project delivery phases.
- Use industry-standard 3D modelling tools such as PDMS or E3D to produce accurate piping system models and layouts.

- Ability to analyse and optimize piping layouts for efficiency and safety/
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Experience as a Piping Design Engineer within the energy sector (e.g. power plants, refineries, or similar facilities).
- Proficient in 3D piping design tools such as PDMS or E3D.
- Strong understanding of piping codes, safety regulations, and industrial design standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and flow diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
