This is a dual technical and business development role. The successful candidate will be expected to combine strong Risk & Safety consultancy expertise with a commercial mindset—actively identifying new clients, new projects, and new business opportunities, while also leading and delivering high-quality technical consultancy assignments.
You will work closely with AFRY’s regional and global teams to support clients across LNG, LNG-to-Power, gas infrastructure, Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia, Power-to-X, CCUS, and other energy-transition projects.
The role will cover the project development lifecycle, including Feasibility Studies, Technical Due Diligence, Concept Studies, Owner’s Engineering, FEED advisory, and specialist Risk & Safety studies.
Given the strong client-facing and business development responsibilities of this position, candidates currently based in Indonesia are preferred. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia would be a strong advantage, together with excellent English communication skills.

- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline from a recognized university is preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant professional experience in Process Safety, Technical Safety, Risk Engineering, and/or technical consultancy.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in LNG import/regasification terminals, FSRU/FSU facilities, LNG-to-Power, gas processing, and associated energy infrastructure.
- Strong experience in QRA, FERA, consequence modelling, gas dispersion, cryogenic spill assessments, and other specialist Risk & Safety studies.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering and risk assessment tools such as PHAST, SAFETI, Riskcurves, FLACS, as applicable.
- Strong understanding of relevant international codes and standards, including API, NFPA, ISO, IEC, and other applicable industry requirements.
- Previous experience with a reputable international engineering consultancy, Risk & Safety consultancy, or technical advisory firm is preferred.
- Existing knowledge of the Indonesian energy market and industry network would be a strong advantage.
- Candidates currently based in Indonesia are preferred, considering the client engagement and business development responsibilities of the role.
- Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable, with excellent written and spoken English required.
- The position will be based at AFRY’s Jakarta office, Indonesia.
- Business Development & Dual-Seller Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new clients, new projects, and new business opportunities across the Indonesian energy market.
- Proactively engage with prospective clients to understand their upcoming projects, investment plans, technical challenges, and consultancy requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, including project developers, energy companies, utilities, investors, EPC contractors, and other industry stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Indonesian energy market, key clients, upcoming projects, regulatory developments, competitors, and investment trends.
- Take ownership of opportunities from initial client engagement through proposal development, negotiation, and project award.
- Risk & Safety Consultancy
- Lead and deliver Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) using tools such as SAFETI or Riskcurves for LNG, hydrogen, ammonia, gas, and other energy facilities.
- Conduct Fire & Explosion Risk Assessments (FERA), consequence modelling, gas dispersion studies, and cryogenic spill assessments.
- Develop and review Fire & Gas Detector Mapping Studies, fire zone layouts, and fire protection philosophies.

- Prepare and deliver high-quality technical reports, proposals, presentations, and client recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with AFRY teams across Southeast Asia and the wider global organization.
