Job Description

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Solar Site Team Leader to lead the day-to-day Project Management Consultant (PMC) oversight of utility-scale solar EPC package execution. The role serves as the single package-level coordination and integration point for progress, risk, quality, health and safety, commissioning, testing, and HOTO (Hand Over Take Over) readiness activities.

The Solar Site Team Leader is responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary PMC resources, monitoring contractor performance, consolidating site observations into actionable recommendations, and ensuring timely resolution of project constraints to support successful project delivery and commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities

Site Delivery Oversight

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day PMC activities across solar construction clusters and project work fronts.
  • Manage deployment priorities and resource allocation for PMC discipline engineers and cluster construction managers.
  • Monitor EPC contractor performance against approved schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Support achievement of project milestones and Commercial Operation Date (COD) targets.

Progress Monitoring & Performance Management

  • Review EPC workfront readiness, resource deployment plans, construction sequencing strategies, and productivity performance.
  • Assess schedule progress and identify risks, constraints, and recovery opportunities.
  • Monitor implementation of contractor recovery plans and corrective actions.
  • Validate package-level status updates prior to submission to the Solar Lead and Programme Controls team.

Risk & Constraint Management

  • Identify, assess, and monitor critical package risks, constraints, and interface challenges.
  • Drive closure of high-priority punch points and construction constraints impacting project completion.
  • Develop action trackers and escalation reports for unresolved issues requiring management intervention.
  • Support risk mitigation planning and execution across project stakeholders.

Interface & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate interactions between EPC contractors, OEMs, client representatives, commissioning teams, and PMC disciplines.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address project issues and maintain alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Support integration activities associated with testing, energization, commissioning, and handover requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication of package status, issues, and recommended actions.

Commissioning & HOTO Readiness

  • Support commissioning planning, testing activities, performance verification, and HOTO preparation.
  • Monitor project readiness for energization and operational handover milestones.
  • Review commissioning constraints and recommend actions necessary to achieve readiness objectives.
  • Coordinate resolution of outstanding technical and quality issues affecting handover acceptance.

Reporting & Client Support

  • Consolidate discipline-specific observations and translate them into package-level recommendations.
  • Prepare status reports, escalation notes, and readiness assessments for programme leadership and client review.
  • Provide clear visibility of project performance, risks, constraints, and mitigation plans.
  • Support client governance meetings and project review workshops.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, power generation, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in construction management, site supervision, project delivery, or PMC roles on large EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidiscipline site teams during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Experience working directly with EPC contractors, OEMs, and client organizations.

Additional Information

  • Strong understanding of utility-scale Solar PV systems and associated balance-of-plant infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies, commissioning processes, testing requirements, and handover procedures.
  • Familiarity with project controls, schedule management, risk management, and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction progress, identify risks, and drive issue resolution.
