AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Water Resources Modelling Engineer to join our Water Resources and Flood Risk Management team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling projects, flood risk assessments, watershed studies, river engineering, and urban stormwater management projects across India and international markets.

The role involves development, calibration, validation, and interpretation of hydrologic and hydraulic models, preparation of technical reports and GIS deliverables, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable water resource solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement hydrologic and hydraulic models using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) for flood assessment and water resources projects.
  • Perform rainfall-runoff analysis, river hydraulic studies, floodplain mapping, drainage design, and watershed modelling.
  • Conduct Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), flood hazard studies, urban stormwater investigations, and river engineering assessments.
  • Process and analyze geospatial datasets using ArcGIS/QGIS, including DEM processing, terrain analysis, catchment delineation, and flood inundation mapping.
  • Prepare flood hazard, flood depth, flood velocity, and flood risk maps for project deliverables.
  • Calibrate, validate, and interpret hydrologic and hydraulic models based on observed and design data.
  • Support climate resilience, climate change impact assessments, flood forecasting, and integrated water resources management studies.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, GIS outputs, project documentation, and client presentations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, environmental, transportation, and planning specialists.
  • Support proposal preparation, technical methodologies, cost estimates, and business development activities.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, stakeholder meetings, and client interactions as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BE/BTech) in Civil Engineering.
  • 4-5 years of professional experience in Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Water Resources Engineering.
  • Proven experience with HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) modelling applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in flood risk assessment, watershed management, river hydraulics, and stormwater management projects.
  • Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, rainfall-runoff modelling, river hydraulics, and drainage systems.
  • Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic model development, calibration, validation, and interpretation.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS/QGIS and geospatial data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments.

Additional Information

  • Master's Degree (ME/MTech) in Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Hydraulic Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience with advanced hydraulic and integrated modelling platforms such as MIKE FLOOD, MIKE 21, MIKE SHE, SWMM, InfoWorks ICM, Delft3D, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of LiDAR datasets, satellite imagery, terrain modelling, and geospatial data processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with Indian standards and guidelines including CPHEEO, IRC, MoRTH, BIS, and relevant international design standards.
  • Experience in flood forecasting, climate adaptation, resilience studies, and integrated water resources management projects.
  • Working knowledge of Python, R, or GIS automation tools for modelling and data processing workflows.
