Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Measurements Scientist IV for employment in our Raleigh, NC office. In this role, you will perform scientific air pollution measurements requiring field application of standard EPA techniques and procedures. This position will consist of both in-person and virtual (telework) work environments and will include performing assessments, plan reviews, and technical report writing.
The successful candidate will provide technical skills leading and supporting projects within the department and will develop strong relationships with the team and clients to enable pursuit of new opportunities. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team.
The successful candidate will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System
The job responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:
- Manage field and office tasks on source emission testing projects to meet established project scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Use scientific principles and EPA environmental testing methods to collect data and solve problems for clients.
- Interact with other scientists and engineers to apply broad range of expertise to specific phases of projects.
- Mentor junior and mid-level staff members by supporting general technical growth and providing constructive oversight and challenging tasks.
- Propose and implement appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Provide advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
- Draw conclusions and make recommendations based on analysis and experience on similar assignments.
- Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Calibrate, repair, and maintain test equipment.
- Select and prepare equipment for field deployment.
- Work independently and supervise field staff as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related field 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience with air measurements and source testing
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights in outdoor climates year-round, lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 lbs
- As a condition of ongoing employment, candidate must be able to obtain medical clearance for DOT driving and for wearing a respirator
- Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related field
- Experience with continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), EPA Methods and emissions monitoring equipment.
- QSTI certification.
- Aptitude and experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair40-hour HAZWOPER training certification.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Understanding and application of the fundamentals of schedule and budget management to project tasks.
- Ability to prioritize and schedule tasks for self and others in workshop and in field.
- Knowledge in the practices required to generate valid scientific data. Ability to use this knowledge to assess the quality of others’ work and apply the practices to employee’s own work.
