Job Description – Data Centre Account Lead
Role Purpose
The Data Centre Account Lead will be responsible for end-to-end delivery oversight of data centre projects across design, engineering, and project management functions. This role acts as the single point of accountability for project execution, ensuring quality delivery, adherence to timelines, and alignment with client expectations across complex, multi-disciplinary engagements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Delivery & Execution Leadership
- Lead and oversee delivery of data centre projects across:
- Design & Engineering
- Project / Program Management (PMC)
- Advisory / Owner’s Engineer services
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards
- Establish clear delivery plans, milestones, and performance metrics
- Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation, ensuring minimal project disruptions
2. Design & Technical Oversight
- Provide strategic technical oversight to multi-disciplinary design teams (Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health Engineering, and Fire Suppression Systems)
- Ensure designs meet client specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Review key technical deliverables and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Drive design efficiency, coordination, and constructability across the project lifecycle
- Lead integrated design coordination across multiple disciplines to minimize clashes, rework, and schedule impacts
- Manage design interfaces between internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders
- Establish and monitor design management processes, quality procedures, and technical governance frameworks
- Ensure timely resolution of cross-disciplinary technical issues and design conflicts
- Support project planning by aligning design deliverables with procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering workshops to optimize project outcomes
- Promote standardization, innovation, and best practices across projects and engineering teams
- Oversee change management processes to ensure technical compliance and controlled implementation of design revisions
- Mentor and guide engineering leads project teams to maintain high technical and delivery standards
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across geographically distributed and multicultural project teams
3. Project Management & Governance
- Implement strong project governance frameworks, including reporting, tracking, and escalation mechanisms
- Monitor project performance against schedule, cost, and quality KPIs
- Ensure compliance with internal delivery processes, QA/QC standards, and risk management protocols
- Lead internal project reviews and ensure corrective actions are implemented
4. Stakeholder & Client Coordination
- Act as the primary interface for delivery-related engagement with clients
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (design, PMC, consulting teams) for seamless execution
- Lead regular project update meetings and ensure transparent communication on progress, risks, and mitigation plans
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through consistent delivery performance
5. Commercial & Contractual Management
- Monitor project budgets, resource utilization, and commercial performance
- Support contract administration, including scope management, change orders, and claims where applicable
- Ensure adherence to approved commercial terms and delivery commitments
6. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide direction and leadership to cross-functional project teams
- Foster collaboration across design, engineering, and project management teams
- Mentor and support team members to drive high performance and quality outcomes
7. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery efficiency and quality
- Support implementation of standardized processes, tools, and methodologies across projects
- Contribute to building best practices within the data centre delivery function
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering Architecture/Mechanical / Electrical / Civil); postgraduate qualification preferred
- 18+ years of experience in design, engineering, and project delivery within infrastructure projects, preferably data centres
- Strong experience in:
- End-to-end project delivery leadership
- Multi-disciplinary design coordination
- Program / project management execution
