At Birdie G’s, every memorable meal starts and ends with you. As Host, you’re the first smile guests see and the last goodbye they remember. You’ll set the tone for every visit, keep the dining room flowing smoothly and make every guest, from first-time visitors to familiar regulars, feel welcome. What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Restaurant Management team, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Make the first and last impression

• Welcome arriving guests warmly, escort them to their table and thank departing guests.
• Answer the phone with polish and take, record and confirm reservations accurately.
• Tailor each guest’s experience, from special occasions to dietary needs to a favorite table.

Keep the room flowing

• Manage seating to create a smooth, well-paced service for guests and the team.
• Communicate clearly with servers, assistants, lead servers and managers about guest needs.
• Act as the link between guests and leadership, making sure every concern reaches the right person.
• Support the team by clearing, setting and resetting tables and keeping the restaurant spotless.

Be the Birdie G's ambassador

• Know the Birdie G's menu inside out, along with every outlet, amenity and service in the hotel.
• Share local recommendations and the story of Century Plaza’s history with guests.
• Represent Birdie G's, the hotel and the Fairmont brand with pride and professionalism.

Your experience and skills include:

• Previous customer service experience preferred; restaurant or hospitality experience is a plus
• A calm, warm manner, even during the busiest service
• Excellent communication skills and strong organization
• Clear spoken English and the ability to read and write English; a second language is an asset
• Good judgment and the ability to listen attentively to guests, colleagues and managers
• Able to stand and move around the restaurant for up to 8 hours a shift
• California Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification, or the ability to get them within [30] days of hire
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Hourly Rate:

• Months 1-9: $27.00/hour
• Months 10-18: $32.18/hour
• After 18 months: $35.75/hour (full contract rate)

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with UNITE HERE Local 11. New hires start on a progressive pay scale and move to full scale after 18 months. Union benefits apply per the agreement.
