Job Description
The Guest Service Valet is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service by efficiently managing guest laundry, valet requests, linen movement, and supporting housekeeping operations. The role ensures timely collection and delivery of guest garments, proper handling of hotel linen, maintenance of hygiene standards, and prompt response to guest requests while upholding the hotel's quality and service standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Guest Laundry & Valet Services
- Collect guest laundry from rooms as per hotel standards.
- Verify garments against the laundry list and ensure proper tagging.
- Deliver guest laundry within the committed turnaround time.
- Handle express laundry requests efficiently.
- Ensure garments are properly washed, dry cleaned, ironed, folded, or hung according to fabric care instructions.
- Inform the Laundry Supervisor of damaged garments or special care requirements before processing.
2. Housekeeping Support
- Assist in the movement and distribution of clean linen to guestrooms, pantries, and service areas.
- Collect soiled linen and uniforms from designated areas.
- Support housekeeping operations during peak occupancy periods.
- Ensure housekeeping pantries are adequately stocked with linen and guest supplies.
- Assist in room setup and special guest requests whenever assigned.
3. Guest Service
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests related to laundry, pressing, extra linen, amenities, and housekeeping services.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while interacting with guests.
- Ensure complete guest satisfaction through timely and efficient service.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when required.
4. Laundry Operations
- Sort garments and linen according to fabric type, colour, and washing requirements.
- Operate laundry equipment safely following hotel Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform quality inspection before dispatching guest garments and hotel linen.
- Maintain proper records of guest laundry, uniforms, and linen movement.
5. Linen & Inventory Control
- Assist in maintaining linen inventory and circulation.
- Report shortages, damaged linen, or discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of linen, uniforms, and laundry supplies.
- Monitor stock levels of detergents, chemicals, garment bags, and related consumables.
6. Safety & Hygiene
- Follow hotel safety policies while handling chemicals and operating laundry equipment.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry and service areas.
- Comply with hygiene, fire safety, and environmental standards.
7. Documentation
- Maintain accurate laundry logs, delivery records, linen movement registers, and daily checklists.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or operational concerns promptly.
8. Teamwork
- Coordinate effectively with Housekeeping, Front Office, Laundry, Engineering, and other operational departments.
- Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Executive Housekeeper.
Qualifications
Education
- High School / Higher Secondary or equivalent.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in Housekeeping, Laundry, or Guest Services in a hotel, resort, or hospitality establishment is preferred.
