Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis – 1 (Chinese) to join our culinary team ibis Jaipur City Centre, India. In this entry-level position, you will work within our professional kitchen, developing your expertise in Chinese cuisine whilst supporting the senior chefs in food preparation and service. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in Chinese culinary techniques within a collaborative and fast-paced kitchen environment.

  •  Prepare and cook Chinese dishes according to established recipes and chef's instructions,   maintaining consistency in quality and presentation.
  •  Perform mise en place activities, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients   with precision and efficiency.
  •  Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness in accordance with   organisational policies.
  •  Assist senior chefs in food preparation, plating, and garnishing of Chinese cuisine dishes.
  •  Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, including woks, steamers, and other   specialised chinese cooking apparatus.
  •  Support the kitchen brigade during service, responding promptly to instructions and maintaining   workflow efficiency.
  •  Monitor stock levels and report ingredient shortages to senior kitchen staff.
  •  Contribute to a positive and organised kitchen environment through effective teamwork and   communication.
  •  Participate in induction training and ongoing development to enhance culinary skills and   knowledge. 
  •  Adhere to all health and safety regulations and organisational procedures.
  •  Proficiency in fundamental Chinese cooking techniques, including stir-frying, steaming, braising,   and deep-frying.
  •  Knowledge of Chinese cuisine ingredients, flavour profiles, and traditional cooking methods.
  •  Strong knife skills and safe food handling practices.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management / Minimum Primary school education.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar capacity.
  • Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage.
