Job Description 

The role of Assistant or Associate Product Copywriter on the A&F Creative Marketing team will focus on the creation of on-brand product descriptions to live online, as well as product naming and more editorial descriptions to live on-garment. In addition to writing, this role collaborates closely with merchandising and site merchandising teams to ensure accuracy, inform customers, and contribute to elevating the brand by conveying product quality and differentiators. Successful candidates will have a relentless passion for fashion as well as for our brands, a strong knowledge of copywriting, and applicable experience in marketing, ideally retail. All A&F copywriters must possess near-perfect editing and grammar skills and be able to write short, smart, snappy copy that has a clear point of view and a recognizable voice. The ideal applicant is curious, energetic, optimistic and highly collaborative.

What will you be doing?

  • Writing engaging and accurate product descriptions for A&F, kids, baby/ toddler, and YPB
  • Maintaining consistent copy structure and voice across all product categories and brands
  • Ensuring legal compliance of product claims across all product descriptions
  • Working closely with site merch to ensure a consistent, seamless customer experience
  • Brainstorming unique, ownable product names for OPM (on-product marketing)
  • Writing editorial/ romanticized language to define collections and key items on-product
  • Closely collaborating with design to execute hangtags and OPM
  • Owning the color naming process for all brands in collaboration with the studio team
  • Staying on top of fashion trends and language, including competitor product naming
  • Helping communicate key OPM moments through to seasonal campaign concepting
  • Editing copy based on leadership feedback, changes to product, trends, performance, etc.
  • Staying curious and up-to-date on fashion trends and industry standard language
  • Performing and sharing competitive research with the team to inform copy going forward
  • Participating in team collaborations to strengthen the culture, share knowledge, and serve as the subject matter expert from a product perspective

What will you need to bring?

  • All A&F copywriters must possess near-perfect editing and grammar skills and be able to write short, smart, snappy copy that has a clear point of view and a recognizable voice
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Creative Writing or Advertising/ Copywriting, or related experience
  • A relentless passion for fashion and working knowledge of product terminology
  • 1+ years of copywriting experience, preferably in the retail/ product copy space
  • A portfolio showcasing your technical writing ability, relentless attention to detail, and grammar proficiency - please include any samples of creative writing if it helps convey your editorial copywriting/ product naming skills
  • Basic knowledge of marketing principles
  • Strong written/ verbal communication & exceptional editing skills
  • Seamless ability to operate autonomously with strong time management skills and a
    self-starter mindset
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Open to constructive criticism in collaborative environments and can quickly action upon
  • An ongoing interest in fashion and familiarity with our brand/ competitors
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel & Teams mandatory, experience with Mural and PIM helpful but not required

Therefore, in states and cities that require the hourly or salary compensation or pay range to be included in a job posting, the recruiting pay range for this position is $54,000 - $68,000. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, your years of experience, your work location, comparison to other employees in similar or related roles, or market demands. The range may be modified in the future.
