Mission

The Legal Counsel will serve as the sole legal lead for LATAM Cluster North, responsible for providing strategic legal guidance and support across 23 countries in the region. This role requires serving as a key legal partner for multiple LATAM Cluster North markets and business units (Immunology, Oncology, Specialty, Eye Care), with responsibility for regional initiatives such as launches, access strategies, and cross-border matters. The role is designed with the ambition to join LATAM Cluster North 's Affiliate Management Team (AMT), requiring a strategic mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory environments across diverse markets in a dynamic pharmaceutical setting.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Legal Strategy: Define and implement legal strategies aligned with functional and business goals while minimizing legal risks. This includes analyzing complex legal issues related to company operations and offering sound legal advice.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for major contracts, especially with Cluster North distributors, safeguarding the company’s interests, and providing legal support in business transactions and corporate operations.
  • Development and Strategy: Collaborate with regional leadership to develop new strategies for the affiliate, navigating the company's matrix organization and participating in cross-functional global initiatives.
  • Legal Leadership: Provide direction and leadership for all legal matters affecting the company, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with Cluster North countries’ laws and regulations.
  • Contractor Supervision: Oversee the current contractor supporting the legal department in Latam Cluster North, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Strategic Business Partner: As a key member of the AMT, act as a key advisor to the leadership team, providing insights and personal perspectives on business strategies and decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations in Cluster North countries, assessing their impact on company operations and business priorities, and recommending actions to ensure compliance.
  • Agility: Continuously working to keep the department modern, agile, and free of unnecessary bureaucracy. Responsible for the legal processes & policies under the legal department.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution processes effectively, collaborating with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • External Representation: Represent the company in external legal matters, including litigation and negotiations with government authorities and professional associations.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Establish and maintain strong technical relationships with external counsel, regulatory agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Industry Engagement: Participate in industry associations to stay connected with sector developments and drive meaningful changes.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to internal company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable legal and ethical requirements. Integrity and ethics are fundamental, ensuring the company remains in compliance with Brazilian laws and regulations.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement legal risk management strategies to minimize potential exposures, offering expert advice on a wide range of legal issues related to operations and corporate governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law.
  • Specialization or post-graduation in Business, Corporate or Commercial Law.
  • Fluent English (written and conversation).
  • 8 + years of experience as in-house lawyer.
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Companies in management positions.
