Job SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused MSL Manager to lead and develop a high-performing Medical Science Liaison team within Allergan Aesthetics. This role is responsible for strengthening scientific engagement with healthcare professionals, building team capabilities, and ensuring consistent, high-quality field execution. The MSL Manager will work closely with the Medical Excellence team, broader Medical Affairs organization, and cross-functional partners to translate medical strategy into impactful execution while fostering a culture of scientific excellence, compliance, and continuous development.

This is a people leadership role with direct responsibility for the MSL team. The successful candidate will be expected to hire, coach, develop, and inspire team members, set clear objectives, drive performance, and create an environment that supports scientific excellence, collaboration, and career growth.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Describe scope: % of Time or Importance

People management: 50%

  • Lead recruitment and selection of high-caliber MSL talent
  • Coach and develop MSLs to build scientific capability, field effectiveness, and long-term career growth
  • Build strong collaboration between the MSL team and key cross-functional stakeholders
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to team members
  • Support onboarding and ongoing development to maintain a high-performing MSL organization
  • Foster an inclusive, high-accountability team culture focused on development and results

Planning and delivery: 40%

  • Translate medical strategy into clear team objectives and execution plans
  • Guide the team to deliver medical priorities with quality, consistency, and timeliness
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Medical Excellence, and cross-functional teams to align field execution with business and medical priorities
  • Lead team planning for scientific exchange and healthcare professional engagement
  • Ensure effective territory planning and customer engagement across the MSL team
  • Support high-quality external scientific interactions through coaching and guidance
  • Monitor team performance and adjust priorities to support delivery of key objectives
  • Identify risks and opportunities, and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders
  • Capture field insights and help translate them into actionable recommendations
  • Encourage strong collaboration across internal teams to maximize medical impact
  • Promote effective communication across functions to support alignment and execution excellence

Compliance: 10%

  • Ensure strict adherence to medical, legal, and compliance standards in all MSL activities
  • Ensure 100% completion of all mandatory training requirements by the MSL team within the required timelines

Qualifications

Education and Experience - Required

  • Advanced degree in medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in clinical practice, clinical research, or another medical/scientific field
  • Significant Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry
  • Experience in project management and/or people management
  • Previous experience in a Medical Science Liaison role

Education and Experience - Preferred

  • Experience in clinical research, scientific publication, or medical communications is preferred

Technical / Skills - Required

  • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs and scientific exchange within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with Medical Excellence and other internal partners
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and execution skills in a matrix environment
  • Proven people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, develop, and drive team performance

Technical / Skills - Preferred

  • Experience supporting clinical research activities, scientific communications, or peer-reviewed publications is preferred
