Job Description
This role is remote-based, and candidates must live within one of the following states: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, DC, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
AbbVie is currently looking for an individual to join our Marketing Team as an Associate Director, Thought Leader Engagement. The Associate Director, Thought Leader Liaison– East is responsible for executing and supporting the Thought Leader (TL) Engagement strategy within the Northeast region for our platinum resistant ovarian cancer asset - ELAHERE®. The TLL-East will work cross-functionally to identify, engage, and build professional relationships with Medical Experts in the gynecologic cancer disease area and execute regional engagement plans in a commercial capacity. Candidates must reside within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Oncology Engagement Support: Support the Senior Director in executing the overarching thought leader engagement strategy ensuring alignment with AbbVie’s broader oncology business objectives.
- Strategic/Enterprise Mindset: Develop, implement, and support thought leader engagement strategy with region, inclusive of regional advisory board meetings, special engagements, congress planning, engagement with HCPs, and special projects.
- Relationship Management & Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain long-term business relationships and trusted partnerships with national/regional HCPs across the assigned region to support strategic engagement objectives and foster ongoing collaboration.
- Insight Generation: Garner and synthesize insights aligned to strategic brand priorities that will shape our brand strategy.
- Speaker Bureau Management: Oversee the performance of regional speaker programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Conference Planning: Coordinate and support TL engagements at medical conferences, ensuring collaboration with relevant functions for a seamless HCP experience.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, medical, and external agencies, to ensure seamless execution of regional initiatives.
- Material Review Process: Lead and co-lead the materials review process (MRP), including job code creation, resource approval, and field resource deployment.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring timely execution of plans, adherence to timelines, and accurate financial reporting.

- Contracting and payment of Medical Experts
- Finance Reporting
- Agency Management: Co-lead agency partners to ensure adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and PRC submission accuracy.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience within the biopharmaceutical industry including:
- Minimum 1-2 years in marketing (MRP, Legal and Regulatory reviews) and
- Field experience i.e., Sales Leadership, DM, TLL, Account Management.
- Experience in oncology, gynecologic oncology, immunology, rare disease, or specialty preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Strong project management experience with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Expert in MRP process (from initiation to approvals).
- Stellar project management experience. Ability to demonstrate a track record of building strong partnerships and cross-functional collaborations.
- Must exhibit inclusive peer leadership skills and an ability to influence without authority.
- Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
- Skilled at clearly communicating and collating insights, along with sharing implications/recommendations distilled from analyses of insights.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Strategic/Enterprise Mindset.
- Travel 60% (domestic travel: office, field time, internal meetings, conferences).
- An essential requirement of your position is to satisfy all applicable health care industry representatives (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations that are in your assigned territory. You must also be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain these credentials.
- These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases, fingerprinting and specific licenses required by individual state or cities.
