This strategic role offers a high impact and visibility to senior leadership, making it one of the most exciting projects within the company. You will identify, recruit, and develop strategically relevant sellers to ensure the marketplace's success. Your work will be essential to increase the quality and quantity of product selection and will have a direct impact on the growth of zooplus.

In this role, you will contribute to setting up new marketplace processes and optimizing seller onboarding with the aim to deliver best-in-class customer experience. As a Business Development Manager, you will: 

  • Identify new sellers and assess the relevance of their product portfolio
  • Ultimately recruit and onboard high-potential sellers according to zooplus' assortment strategy
  • Build and manage a pipeline of sellers to consistently meet/exceed ambitious objectives with a focus on inputs of selection (#sellers and #SKU)
  • Analyze seller performance and drive corresponding strategic business decisions to optimize their growth and meet zooplus' high standards of delivery and customer experience
  • Control and assess vendor compliance to zooplus' code of conduct, laws, and regulations applicable (KYC)
  • Monitor and steer financial and onboarding goals in line with zooplus' ambitions
  • Spot market and category challenges and opportunities and actively propose assortment development measures
  • Monitor competitors' proposition, identify improvement areas or industry trends that are relevant to the customers, and propose correcting measures
  • Represent zooplus in business meetings and support building zooplus' long-term strategic relationships
  • Support cross-functional projects when applicable
  • Foster and maintain a customer-and-pet-first approach within the organization
  • Act as a role model and actively promote and protect zooplus' values and purpose

Qualifications

  • Advanced level of French and English
  • BA/BS or graduate degree in a business-related discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Seller-, Vendor-, Purchasing- or Category Management, ideally in FMCG-retailing or e-commerce and/or the pet industry
  • Experience in managing business partners, ideally in a retail environment (online retail, marketplace, D2C)
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and persuasion skills, ability to build trusting relationships with diverse ** stakeholders
  • Understanding of the E2E value chain and its financial components
  • Analytical skills
  • Experience in managing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple projects with high magnitude, complexity, and impact
  • Ability to react and make the right decisions in a fast-paced and change-driven environment
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and autonomously taking responsibility for achieving your targets
  • Intercultural competence
