We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Payment Team within the Engineering & Operation organization, to support the Team and enable people growth.
As an Engineering Manager, reporting to Domain Engineering Manager, you are committed to driving efficient product delivery on time & within budget, and guiding the professional growth of your team members, while actively contributing to shaping a robust technical direction for our products. Your goal is to foster excellence, support career development, ensure processes are followed and contribute to the overall success of our organization.
You are working closely with the Product Owner and Domain Architect, and you own vital aspects of your team’s member success.
In close collaboration with other teams, Payment team defines, implements, deploys, and operates Products to support business needs, introducing new payment methods and improving exisitng experience for more than 9 million of our customers!
As our Software Engineering Manager, you embrace the following responsibilities:
- Product Vision and Strategy: Contributing to defining the product vision and strategy, considering people, process, product, and capacity aspects.
- Product Delivery: Being accountable for the deliverables of the product teams, adhering to timelines and commitments made, ensuring scalability and resilience of existing applications and contributing to the overall company goals and strategy. You take ownership of ensuring the successful delivery of our Product Team's commitments by setting clear goals and expectations.
- Capacity Planning: Ensuring the team has the necessary resources and skills by evaluating workload and identifying potential bottlenecks for successful project delivery. You actively participate in the recruitment and retention process, ensuring a healthy composition of the Product Team.
- Technical excellence: Being an enabler, your responsibility is to empower the team, unlocking their potential and facilitating their progress towards set goals while proactively identifying and removing any technical impediments or obstacles that hinder their productivity. You are strongly committed to maintaining a high standard of technical excellence by emphasising best practices and industry trends.
- People Growth: Taking responsibility for the growth of the team members to meet business & tech expectations by managing performance and providing coaching on the job for individual development. Fostering excellence and supporting career development is one of your crucial goals.
- Process Management: Creating a productive, agile environment, aligning with other Teams, and ensuring company policies and product/tech processes are well-coordinated and emphasizing the value of continuous improvement by promoting architectural best practices and nurturing individual growth. You support your team as an agile driver & coach of the software delivery process and ensure that your team aligns with zooplus's business and technology strategy, operating models, and guidelines.
- Budget Management: Monitoring and optimising budget costs related to product expenses, such as AWS, licenses, externals, training budget, and personnel costs.

You bring to us the following expertise:
- Strong software engineering & design fundamentals with extensive former hands-on design & development experience (8+ years within software development practices)
- Strong communication, people management and team leadership skills
- An extensive and recent contribution to process, Agile and Lean fundamentals
- Experience in e-commerce business
Extensive experience and exposure to software tooling and practices (wiki and ticketing - ideally Atlassian, CI/CD, release cycle, automation, monitoring, support, and operation
