Additional Information
What do we expect from you?
The Engineering Team has started the implementation of delivery standards, determining models for capacity versus demand, planning prioritization, and initial progress reporting. We need the help of somebody that can grow, mature, improve, and continue the adoption of these set policies to start with. We understand the need for detailed management and inter Project Coordination together with the Team Leads, Engineering Coordinators, and the Governance & Program Management Lead, which we expect from you. Eventually, you should have an overview and control of the delivery and tasks to a point that we would like to have a regular status report in which we provide details on what Engineering is working on, delivery estimated dates, issues, constraints, and dependencies from other areas of the Engineering and of the Business. You will be able to assist the Program Management Lead on capacity management and another corporate initiative that may be required.
In addition, this role is expected to be hands-on. There will be no additional people apart from the Governance & Program Management Lead (who is also hands-on) to support directly into the process. Indirectly you will have the support and help of multiple teams or people, such as team leads, engineering coordinators, data and analytics team, etc. however when it comes to project delivery management, this will need to be done by you.
How does your first month look like?
Your first day will involve getting to know the team, the product, the process, and the projects. Knowing each status and understanding where each project is will take approximately one to two weeks. By the third or fourth week, you should have started to have clarity in the details of each project in both technical and business scope, where they are, with an updated status report summary, and JIRA tickets.
By the fifth to sixth week, you should have already some mastery of each project, and have control over the information on where they are. You should be able already to have a good team relationship between the Product Managers and Engineering Team Leads. At the end of the second month, you should be able to have the process and standards set to be operationalized in relation to Project Management, Reporting, Resource Allocations, and Ticket Management.
In the third month, you should be able already to contribute and recommend process maturity changes as seems fit based on the experience with the goal of making the delivery more efficient. You should be able to give inputs on regular quarterly planning and retrospective learning.
How would you know if you succeeded?
- You will have full control of the delivery and you will know what and when a task is being released, or delayed, with issues or dependencies.
- You will have to understand the technical scope and dependencies of each project
- You will work side by side and have the support of the team leads and product managers
- Team leads will thank you for your hard work and organization that will support the delivery from their side
- You will have clear priorities and when not you will find those
- You will manage conflict across projects effectively
- You will escalate issues quickly to the Governance & Program Management Lead without thinking that you could be blamed (we are not like that, we want to help unlock things!)
- You will have the central summary report to be up-to-date regularly.
How will you do it?
You will be working side by side with the Engineering Team Leads, Product Managers, as well as with the CTO and Governance & Program Management Lead, to ensure that you have the right guidance for your day-to-day tasks. This is critical to ensure your success! And don’t forget your success is our success!
You should focus on delivering the best of you and provide as much capacity to fast learning as possible while delivering tasks from day 1. You should know to drive under a bit of pressure and not get overwhelmed easily.
When will you work?
We are a fully flexible and full remote. It means that you decide when, however, it is important that you have your calendar updated. There is a but to this, and this is that you would be required to work with Product team members which are primarily located in Riyadh as it is the Governance & Program Management Lead and the CTO. So you will need to be at the office for a good period of your time. This will help with your success in the role.
Where would you work?
Riyadh. As said before, building relationships with key people is going to be crucial.
What are we offering?
- Competitive Salary
- Holidays of 21 days + additional days given regularly
- Training (we kicked the learning internally and recently completed an AWS Architecting course)
- Career path clearly defined!
- ZEA – Zid Entertainment – Fun Thursdays!
