Planner - HS2

Job Description

A regional civil contractor, Midlands based is currently seeking an experienced Planner to work on the HS2 scheme.

Main Responsibilities : 
  • Prepare and/or develop from tender programme, well-engineered contract programmes.
  • Support the Project Director with the production, management and updating of the construction programmes and their communication to internal and external customers and major stakeholders.
  • Produce programmes, reports and/or extract filters as required by the project team, including indication of deviation from the baseline programme in Primavera P6 format.
  • Provide support and assistance to the project in order to enable the team to update progress against baseline schedules, monitor pinch-points on the critical path and test and change logic where previously agreed to either improve upon the baseline programme or to mitigate potential delays.
  • Manage and incorporate change events into the construction programme in a timely manner, jointly with the project commercial team and collaboratively agree entitlement under the contract.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports for submission and present at monthly progress meetings with Client.
  • Prepare compensation event programmes and narratives, which facilitate successful compensation event resolution.
  • Attend progress meetings with internal and external customers and support presentations on project progress.
  • Liaise with designers and other suppliers to ensure their programmes or sequence of works are integrated into the project programme.
  • Prepare short-term programmes in conjunction with the project team where required.
  • Introducing improvements and innovations where appropriate. 
Skills, Knowledge & Experience 
  • Competent in use of Primavera P6 software (essential).
  • Experienced in the use of the NEC 3 form of contracts
  • Competent in updating progress in accordance with NEC 3 contracts and producing progress reports.
  • Working knowledge of Asta Powerproject and MS Project 
  • General awareness of commercial issues relating to construction contracts. 
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to work towards challenging deadlines.
