Job Description
Z customers love our food and beverage range and this role ensures the offering across Z retail sites continues to grow and diversify. Joining us as our Uru Kai me te Kawhe Head of Food & Coffee will see you work in area we are investing heavily in and have bold ambitions for. We are enjoying excellent growth in our food and coffee offering and this role provides the opportunity to step into an area performing well and ready for innovation, scale and execution.
As an experienced Category Manager you will be used to identifying areas for growth, innovation and evolution. You will be comfortable with scale and working at a national level and balancing between strategic planning, creating roadmaps, building capability as well as holding key supplier relationships, being hands on in a test kitchen and guiding people and pieces of work.

This role can be based in either Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland or Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.
You will have the opportunity to
- Elevate our capability to deliver and execute complex food and drink offers to scale
- Create a product roadmap that ensures both growth of our core range as well as creating the next evolution in our category strategy
- Bring others on the journey by ensuring that the direction and standards are communicated, implemented and managed both internally and externally
- Develop annual category plans that meet sales, margin and supplier income targets and ensure on time, safe and quality delivery
- Manage relationships and negotiations with suppliers to maximize profitability as well as fulfilment expectations
- Coach and mentor a team of Category Managers and take responsibility for key pieces of work
Qualifications
What you’ll bring to Z
- Demonstrated experience and success in a comparable role within the food and beverage industries
- Experience within and knowledge of a quick service retail environment
- An inclusive and dynamic leadership style
- The ability to think big, be ambitious with the experience to execute at scale
- Strong knowledge of retail category management and/or relevant FMCG experience
- Food Service and product development experience
- The people skills to guide and mentor within Z as well as with multiple external stakeholders
- The drive and passion for food and beverage in a convenience retail environment, bring your enthusiasm and positive energy!

The base salary range for this role is $150,450 to $177,000 per annum, plus 15% bonus based on company performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.
