This position is responsible for the development, administration, supervision and implementation of the Dance Programs for children.
$20-$25/hour. Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s from 4PM-7PM, Saturday’s 9AM-1:45PM. Starting on September 1st, 2019.
- Teach scheduled classes, training, choreography, performances and special events.
Oversees the safety of all programs, equipment, facilities and participants.
Plan routines, choose appropriate music and choose different movements for each set of muscles, depending on participant’s capabilities and limitations.
Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement. Monitor participant’s progress and adapt programs as needed.
Develop and implements program plans that are responsive to the needs of the community and the YWCA membership.
Keep management informed of customer and facility needs.
Ensure that safety standards are met and that department and facility policies are adhered to. Advise clients about proper clothing and shoes; administer emergency first aid, wrap injuries or refer injured person to physicians.
Performs related duties as required.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Dance, related field or equivalent training and a minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching and administration of fitness programs required.
Licensing and/or Certifications: Current CPR/AED First Aid preferred.
Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and training principles.
- Knowledge of music, tempo, cueing technique and rhythm.
Skills and Abilities:
- Formal dance training in jazz and ballet preferred.
- Ability to choreograph dance routines.
- Capable of teaching current trends in fitness & dance.
- Excellent communications (listening, verbal and written) skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and prioritize work.
- Ability to work with diverse client and workforce population
