Job Description

Our Build Team at Xref is looking for a backend software engineer who is willing to join a dynamic, diverse, and dedicated group of peers to design our products, test our technologies, and engineer our creative solutions.

Day to day you will:

  • Develop high quality software following good design and architecture principles

  • Identify, prioritise and execute tasks in the software development life cycle

  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code

  • Automate tasks using appropriate tools and methods

  • Code Reviews

  • Debugging production errors

  • Follow good testing practices including unit tests and manual verification

  • Collaborate with internal teams to fix and improve products

  • Document development phases and monitor live systems

  • Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies

 

Qualifications

 

  • 5-7 years work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
  • Extensive experience in software development

  • Understanding of microservices and distributed system design.

  • Expertise in Python programming language

  • Strong work experience in working with REST API backend frameworks like Django with familiarity on any Javascript technologies such as Angular would be a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL and NoSQL

  • Familiarity with AWS

  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude and ability to work independently

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills

 

Bonus points if you have:

 

  • Experience working in a start-up environment

  • Experience with Agile, specifically Scrum, methodologies
