Job Description
About the opportunity
Join our Education and Childcare vertical as Senior Android Engineer to make a real impact every day. We say that because we know that every conversation we have, every code line we write and every interface we design is another opportunity for us to enrich our customers’ experiences. You'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining high-performance mobile applications that help educators across multiple countries deliver exceptional educational experiences. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll craft intuitive, secure, and scalable solutions that make a real difference in the education sector.
Reporting into Engineering Manager, you'll create visually stunning, high-performance mobile experiences that educators and parents rely on every day: Some of the other responsibilities you'll have:
What you'll be doing:
- Build and ship production-ready features across Android (and iOS) with our dedicated mobile team
- Own the full lifecycle from concept and architecture through to delivery and post-launch support
- Champion quality through code reviews, unit testing, and best practice standards that keep our apps secure, fast, and reliable
- Collaborate across locations with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to solve real problems for real users
- Lead and mentor other engineers, influencing technical direction and elevating the entire team
- Move with focus and speed — taking a proactive, hands-on approach in every sprint
Location: Remote within Australia, with a preference for Melbourne-based candidates and full Australian working rights.

You're motivated by seeing your work make a real difference in people's daily lives.
You'll need:
- Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, including concurrency, memory management, Room Database, and performance optimization
- Production experience with Jetpack Compose and integrating it into XML-based codebases
- Strong knowledge of Android frameworks, and architectural patterns (MVVM, Coroutines, Clean Architecture)
- End-to-end mobile development experience from architecture and design through to Google Play deployment
- Proven experience with testing practices and CI/CD pipelines (Bitrise, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions)

- Hands on Flutter development experience.
- Track record of mentoring engineers, performing code reviews, and contributing to technical strategy
- Experience delivering large-scale Android applications with strong understanding of UI/UX principles
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills - comfortable working with distributed teams across locations and time zones
It would be great if you also have:
- GraphQL and modern API integration expertise
- Experience with monitoring tools (Firebase, Sentry, New Relic)
