Job Description

You’ll join the Core Services group building BrandBot, a marketing automation and customer data platform. We’re helping our clients understand their customers, expand their reach, and grow their businesses with easy-to-use, API-first services. 

We are looking for a Technical Lead with microservice experience who will help solve our biggest challenges ranging from scaling our APIs to deploying new core services. The right candidate is excited to participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle from planning and design to delivery. They will work closely with engineers, product, and management to help develop the APIs, services, and infrastructure to power the platform as well as customer-facing products. We value collaboration and expect our engineers to pair regularly to solve problems.

Our technical stack includes: Node.js, PHP, Vue.js, Python, Serverless, AWS, and GitHub Actions

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the “why” of what we’re trying to accomplish before the “how.”
  • Taking a key role in designing and implementing solutions with the team (senior+ only).
  • Delivering features that are well tested and meet acceptance criteria.
  • Suggesting and championing improvements to the team’s technology and processes.
  • Supporting the growth of other team members and improvement of the team with code reviews and thoughtful, respectful feedback.
  • Mentor team members and guide them towards raising their own software quality standards.
  • Participate in daily scrum activities and collaborate on delivering projects in an agile environment.
  • Write clean, testable, scalable, and well-documented code.
  • Diagnose problems and defects by collecting information, finding root causes, and fixing them.
  • Help improve and evolve our advanced architecture following best-in-industry patterns.
  • Have a keen eye for improvement in scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Refactor existing code, write unit tests and review other teammates code.
  • Estimate, plan and implement new features in collaboration with product and design.
  • Participate in full-life cycle software development.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years building scalable APIs and web applications.
  • Experience with server-side JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience working in AWS or Azure, ideally via infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Bonus: Experience working with event-based systems. 
  • Bonus: Experience with Python or PHP web applications.
  • Bonus: Full stack experience.
