Job Description

Come join Xplor as the Mobile Engineering Manager on the TrueCoach platform! As a combination managerial/contributor role on a small team, this is a great position to start your management career in.

Our mobile engineering team is small but mighty, with 3 teammates building and maintaining 3 mobile apps. We value our customers, our craft and each other. As the Mobile Engineering Manager on the TrueCoach platform your role would be to help guide this team toward further growth and success.

In this position you’ll be poised to lead, inspire and be a driving force behind our evolution as a company. You’ll get a chance to participate in strategic decision making, support your team and work alongside product and design to help us ensure we build the right thing in the right way at the right time. We have a solid foundation, with revenue and happy customers that love us, but we're just getting started.

Reports to: VP of Engineering, TrueCoach

Location: Boulder, CO or 100% remote in the following US states:  AZ, CA, CO, DC, Fl, GA, IL, MA, MD, MI, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, and VT. 

Travel Requirements: Once the pandemic winds down, we’ll all travel 1-2 times a year for 2-3 days of meetings and working together, family and health permitting.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Oversee day to day operations of the mobile engineering team

  • Oversee business concerns while looking to the tech lead for the specifics of “how”

  • Foster a positive, growth oriented atmosphere for all engineers

  • Work with VP of Engineering to create specific goals for each team

  • Hold engineers and team(s) accountable to goals

  • Communicate, coach toward and hold your team(s) responsible to high standards

  • Facilitate team and individual decision making

  • Act as hiring manager for mobile engineering positions

  • Continuously evolve an agile process to fit team and project needs

  • Challenge team to identify bottlenecks & ways of speeding up delivery

  • Guide effectiveness of team meetings

  • Ensure engineers are focused on the sprint & stories at hand

  • Support teams through conflict to healthy resolutions

  • Write clean, well tested and well abstracted code at least 40% of the time

  • Participate in code review

  • Participate in QA

  • Expand your interests and abilities via our 10% investment time

Qualifications

Experience /Education:

  • At least 4 years building high quality web or mobile applications with any modern tools, including at least 2 years building iOS apps using Swift and Xcode

  • Strong experience with implementing engineering patterns and best practices in Swift based applications

  • Writing Unit / UI tests with XCTest or similar

  • Bonus - experience building native Android apps

  • Bonus - passionate about health and fitness
