About the opportunity

You’ll join Xplor Education and our Engineering team — the team that provides the support and expertise educators need to manage their centres smoothly, improve parent engagement, and deliver the best educational experience, so that they can focus on what really matters - helping children succeed. 

Reporting into PHP Tech Lead, you’ll help us develop our product that allows education services to automate administration, streamline their financials and reporting, digitise attendance and bookings, record learning observations, and communicate with parents in real-time. Some of the other responsibilities you’ll have:

  • Work with your dedicated team to ensure projects are delivered on time, and to best practice & quality guidelines
  • Be part of the development and maintenance of applications and web services for use in the Xplor platform
  • Participate in the entire application lifecycle right from concept to delivery as well as post-launch support
  • Be involved in design, testing and code review
  • Regular exposure to business stakeholders and executive management, as well as the authority and scope to apply expertise to many interesting technical problems
  • Be part of a team with a shared goal - disrupting a market through technology and improving the future of education

Qualifications

What would make me a good candidate?

  • You have a good grasp of OOP fundamentals
  • You have hands-on experience with modern PHP (PHP 7+)
  • You have some experience with modern MVC frameworks
  • You have experience with relational databases
  • You have some experience with unit testing
  • Ideally, you have experience with JavaScript and front-end development
  • Proactive, self-motivated learner with a strong drive to achieve personal goals
  • Ability to work in a team where you manage your own time and priorities
  • Motivated by a fast-paced environment where you will have to constantly adapt - no two days are the same!
  • You’re a true team player who knows that we all have to sometimes roll up our sleeves
