Job Description

This position is within the Engineering Solutions Group, XP Power San Jose CA. Successful candidate will work with a talented engineering team that is responsible for designing custom power delivery products that includes DC/DC, AC/DC, high power, low power, high voltage, and low voltage switch mode power supplies.

  • Design and layout of high-performance, high-reliability PCBs for industrial applications
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, firmware, and software engineers to ensure design requirements are met
  • Work with industry-leading software (e.g.: Altium Designer) to create detailed layout design
  • Ensure design and manufacturing practices adhere to industry standards and regulations
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for PCB layout and design using S4 (SAP)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any PCB design and layout issues
  • Contribute to PCB/PCBA design reviews by providing DFM/DFA/DFT and similar value-added information
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, dedication, and focus on the right priorities in each PCB design
  • Check the quality of work of other layout resources, including internal and external resources
  • Mentor internal layout resources on PCB layout and Altium best practices
  • Collaborate with international manufacturing locations during development and product infancy to maximize production yields

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in PCB layout and design
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or other STEM field or equivalent experience
  • Experience using industry-leading software such as Altium Designer, Allegro, Eagle PCB, or equivalent
  • Ability to create detailed schematics and layout design
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as IPC-6012 Class 2 or 3
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of PCB best practices for design, manufacturing, and test, including PCB assembly to IPC Class 2 or 3 standards
  • Complex analog and digital signal routing, impedance-controlled stack-up, multi-layer board design
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
