Job Description
The Assistant Chef is responsible for supporting culinary leadership in all aspects of cost optimization, inventory management, and food requisitions, while directing and developing kitchen staff to maintain the highest standards of culinary excellence. This position ensures meticulous adherence to all government health regulations, industrial safety standards, corporate and departmental policies, and Culinary Bargaining Agreement, while elevating the guest experience through refined food quality and presentation.
Job Responsibilities
- Culinary Excellence & Operational Refinement includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Uphold and elevate the luxury culinary standards and refined aesthetic of our fine dining establishment.
- Continuously monitor and enhance consistency of food quality, presentation, and plating to deliver an exceptional and memorable guest experience.
- Establish and maintain rigorous standards and protocols that ensure both workplace safety and an environment of culinary excellence.
- Proactively identify, address, and report any actual or potential concerns to preserve the integrity of our operations and guest safety.
- Champion best practices and establish benchmarks for quality, precision, and operational efficiency that reflect our luxury positioning.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in culinary techniques and presentation standards.

- Ensure all team members adhere to our distinguished policies and procedures while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
- Lead and inspire the culinary team by clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations aligned with our luxury brand values.

Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive culinary management experience in distinguished fine dining establishments or Michelin-recognized environments
- Current and valid Food Manager Certification and health credentials required; ability to maintain all necessary licensing and professional certifications
- Exceptional fluency in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with sophistication and precision in a professional setting. Multilingual capabilities are highly valued.
- Formal culinary degree from an accredited institution is preferred; equivalent advanced culinary training and demonstrated expertise are considered
- Exemplary knife skills and mastery of classical and contemporary culinary techniques, with demonstrated ability to orchestrate all facets of fine dining kitchen operations
- Proven ability to execute culinary work with meticulous attention to detail, artistic vision, technical precision, and unwavering consistency
- Demonstrated capacity to thrive in high-pressure environments while maintaining composure, exercising sound judgment, and resolving challenges with strategic thinking
- Exceptional organizational and project management capabilities, with a proven track record of meeting rigorous production schedules and culinary timelines
- Distinguished creative and artistic sensibility, with a passion for innovative plate presentations and continuous exploration of refined ingredients and elevated menu concepts
- Proven leadership acumen with the ability to inspire, mentor, and elevate culinary teams to exceptional performance standards
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to contributing excellence across all operational aspects of a luxury hospitality environment
- Experience in unionized culinary environments is preferred and valued
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office applications required
