Job Description

World Health Partners is seeking a full-time Controller based in New Delhi, India. The ideal candidate would be motivated by WHP’s mission, self-motivated, flexible, can think and problem solve outside of the box, and have extensive experience in accounting for non-profit organizations with international field offices.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the consolidated financial accounts of WHP according to US GAAP.
  • Responsible for a strong system of global internal controls and processes.
  • Mentor, motivate and manage the accountant.
  • Budget creation and management.
  • Cash flow management.
  • Liaisons with Paychex to ensure payroll is processed correctly.
  • Preparation of reports and analysis for donors, field offices, management, and the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Going the extra mile to provide superior customer service to the field offices
  • Oversee Human Resource functions such as 401k, new employee on-boarding, etc.

Tasks

  • Critically review and close the books each month.
  • Analyze monthly field reports.
  • Prepare a monthly financial packet including financial statements, budget vs actuals by project and donor, and financial analysis.
  • Manage the cash flow and cash management. Review and process fund requests from the field.
  • Prepare an annual financial package for the Board.
  • Preparation of budgets and financial narratives for proposals.
  • Submit city and state filings.
  • Facilitate and manage the consolidated audit.
  • Monitor and maintain the Chart of Accounts.
  • Support the President and Vice President and field offices with analysis and their requests as needed.
  • One-off donor requests.

Qualifications

Must have: 

  • BS in business related field or equivalent and 10 years experience in accounting and financial analysis to include 5 years supervisory or management experience. CPA preferred.
  • Minimum three years experience as a Controller in non-profit or social enterprise accounting with international field offices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating systems and controls in a growth environment, particularly in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan ahead, prioritize between multiple tasks, timetable agreed activities and meet deadlines.
  • recent experience accounting for institutional donor, private foundation and government- funded projects.
  • Ability to take calls in the evening or early morning with field offices.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel formulas and macros.
  • Great attention to detail as well as being able to see think strategically at 10,000 feet.
  • Standard of excellence in internal and external customer service
  • Ability to drive process and change management, always looking for how things can be improved
  • Team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • A hands-on, pro-active working style

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Intacct accounting software
  • Hindi or Swahili spoken language
  • Experience working or living in India or Africa.
