MUST-HAVES

  • 6+ yrs with Demandware and Requires full SDLC experience and best practices
  • 5+ years of highly complex project management, Demandware exp. required.
  • Scrum Master required and either, PMP, ACP, ITIL and Product Product owner

ROLE DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Information Systems is currently seeking Senior Technical Project Managers with experience in Merchandising, Finance, CRM or Online / Mobile IS solutions to join our PMO team in Phoenix, Arizona. This position will be engage with Senior Managers as well as technical individual contributors. In this role, you’ll work across all our brands to implement and deliver solutions aligned with strategies and technology plans for in-store, corporate and direct-to-consumer environments. The Senior Project Manager is accountable for Program governance and related project delivery. As a champion of the IS Services Development Lifecycle (SDLC) you will coach IS adoption of agile practices.

  • Have experiencing coaching organizations in transition to leverage scrum, kanban in addition to modified waterfall methods within Petsmart’s Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Have good interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Manages highly complex, cross functional projects impacting the enterprise
  • This person is accountable for maintaining the overall delivery for the projects they manage; understands risks, and drives contingency planning with the leadership team
  • Strong knowledge of project system environment management; Development, QA, Training; planning and coordination of environment utilisation
  • Establishes clear deliverables and expectations for the project
  • Experienced in scenario, use case development and decomposition needed in an enterprise setting.
  • Develops relevant project artifacts as defined by Petsmart’s IS Services Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to foster transparency on schedule, costs, risks, resource utilization through communications and demonstrations.
  • This person resolves problems, identifies trends, and determines process improvements while implementing change;
  • Anticipates issues and risks implementing preventative measures to avoid them, leads project teams to identify issues, and risks, actively manages open risks & issues to resolution, and seeks assistance when appropriate
  • Leads the definition of quality for the overall project; determines appropriate controls, and defines strategies to ensure implementation
PEOPLE & TEAM INFLUENCE
  • This person develops strong relationships within IS, across PetSmart’s business areas, and with key technology deployment vendors
  • Can adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Ability to defuse tension among project team should it arise
  • Demonstrates extensive abilities as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation
  • Coaches non-PM scrum masters to facilitate organizational efficiencies in smaller projects.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
  • Facilitates financial objectives by forecasting requirements
  • Knowledge of IS Capital and Expense budgeting and spend processes
  • May drive contracts/SOWs, oversees budgets; review expenditures and partner to analysing variances
TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENT
  • At least 5 years progressive experience in IT management with multi-year tenures at prior locations.
  • Experience depth with program and project, change and release management methodologies with a proven record of large scale implementations requiring hands on operational responsibility.
  • Strong project management tool kit, can easily hit the ground running in Agile/Scrum and Waterfall environment.
  • Ability to evaluate project situations; knows when to drive project and when to be facilitative; creates a sense of urgency within the project and resource teams to drive project when necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC; ability to partner with IS managers to ensure SDLC best practices are incorporated into project delivery.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Strong relationship building capabilities with colleagues both within and outside an IT organization.
  • Facilitation skills to align competing priorities.
  • The ability to think laterally, deal with ambiguity and constructively question established process.
QUALIFICATION:
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years IS experience required in an enterprise level organization. 5+ years of highly complex project management experience required.
  • Project Budget responsibilities $1 – 3M.
  • PMP, ACP, Scrum Master, ITIL, Lean or other project management certifications with demonstrable application desired.
  • Required knowledge of business process modelling methods
  • Required knowledge of software or services SDLC processes and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in project management discipline and advanced software tools required to execute the responsibilities of the position such as Planview, Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), Visual Studio Online/Team Foundation Server.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal relations skills required.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external vendors.
