The Cart & Checkout team is looking for a Backend Engineer to contribute new features for our awesome consumer-facing applications including the wolt.com website as well as the iOS and Android apps.

The team is responsible for the end-to-end user experience from the moment the users open a venue to see the selection, through ordering all the way to get them to the checkout screen in both app and web. Some of the key focus areas of the team are baskets management, cart review, checkout experience and multi venue orders. The team is a cross-functional team of Frontend, Backend, iOS, Android, Data Analyst, Design, a Team lead and a Product Lead. Their mission is to offer Wolt grade order experience on our platform; helping consumers to order in a fast, easy and collaborative way while providing a delightful user experience in different product lines.

In this role, you’ll be working on improving and modifying the very app that millions of people in over 20 countries around the world use daily when ordering food and other products in Wolt. Our app is top-rated and we place a high value on an awesome end-user experience as well as a cutting-edge UI.

We are looking for someone with a strong professional background in building scalable distributed backend services using Python, integrated with MongoDB, Postgres DB, internal gRPC services, Kafka, etc and delivering modern, testable and maintainable code. There are some newer services also built with Kotlin which would be a bonus skill but not mandatory. In addition to the software development skills, we are looking for a team player with great communication and collaboration skills, workload organization, flexibility and an agile attitude along with a product oriented mindset.
