There would be no Wolt, without the restaurants and retailers. We live in symbiosis, and we are dedicated to serving our merchants in the best possible way - in the best cases, we've multiplied the revenue of our merchants and improved their market reach. The Merchant team is responsible for enabling smooth cooperation by building both external and internal tools related, and providing our merchants with insights into their business. The menu "model" is often thought to be one of the most complicated things Wolt has built/builds in the Engineering organisation. We currently have more than 40,000 venues on Wolt, but that number is scaling FAST, so it's more important than ever to develop our merchant facing products. The work you do will be utilized in all of the 23 countries we are currently present in from big global chains to cosy ramen places in Tokyo. 🍜

Ease of use, robustness and reliability are as important if not more so than in any other team at Wolt - without a good experience for the merchants we have no venues for our customers to order from.

As a Backend Engineer in the Merchant team, you'll be making our beautiful dream of multiplying the number of venues a reality. The team works on all the tooling we offer our restaurants and retailers, like our Merchant iPad application (with which the merchants receive their orders), Merchant Admin (a platform for the merchants with our Menu Editor and business analytics) and internal Merchant management tools.

The team is currently based in Helsinki HQ, Estonia and Berlin (working remotely at the moment) and welcomes new members to the Helsinki HQ or working entirely remotely elsewhere in Finland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, or Estonia now and in the future! 🌍

You might be the one we are looking for if you are an engineer with experience in designing and building top class software. More important than any specific programming language is your expertise in building systems at scale. However senior level experience with either Python or Kotlin (for backend development) and MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kafka, AWS comes in handy.

The compensation will be a negotiable combination of monthly pay and Wolt stock options. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you'll own a piece of the pie.
