Are you interested in being part of building a service that is unique to the tastes of our over 10 million users? Wolt is looking for multiple backend engineers with Kotlin skills to join our different engineering teams across the product development organization. Kotlin is one of our newest language additions, already in use in a multiple teams across the product development when building new services. Now we want to welcome enthusiastic like minded engineers in this new journey also remotely!

Examples of teams using Kotlin as their main language in the backend development:  

• The Merchant Integrations team making sure our merchant partners can benefit more and more from their cooperation with Wolt. The team has been building custom integrations to major franchises, but we’re now getting ready for the 2nd phase of building open API’s to enable more of our merchant partners to reap the benefits. You will be building new APIs, allowing merchants to integrate into our system. These are not only restaurants but also big chains such as supermarkets - in terms of business scope we’re talking about a large scale. The work is extremely impactful, and also includes direct communication with several stakeholders. Instead of firefighting, you will mostly be building new solutions in our small, autonomous team.
• The Payments team is a part of our financial services group and focuses on incoming payments from consumers. The team has the ownership of the whole payment flow and handles all integrations to payment providers and makes sure that the desired payment methods are available for consumers. What makes things unique is the payment landscape which is constantly evolving and requires local adaptation in different countries. If you’ve worked with payments before, you know the thrill. But if you haven’t, you might want to give it a try! 
• The Localisation team is part of our financial services group, focusing on making sure we are meeting the local requirements for receipt and invoice compliance, taxation and business model to mention a few. The team works closely with our expansion, legal and finance teams to make sure our product is ready to conquer new markets. That also mean close cooperation with the other engineering teams, to make sure product isn't a blocker for new markets. 

The teams are based in Helsinki HQ (working remotely at the moment) but welcome new members to the Helsinki HQ or working entirely remotely in elsewhere Finland, Germany, Denmark, or Estonia now and in the future! Note that we don't have relocation support for other locations than Finland at the time, so we hope you are based in one of these locations when applying for remote role.

We are looking for someone who has several years of experience building high-quality software, APIs and integrations and can handle the whole development cycle all the way to production. These teams have a background in developing their services with Python (FastAPI, Flask) but building new services in Kotlin. Thus knowledge in Python comes handy but most importantly, we are looking for the ability to take on production level Kotlin at short notice. We find strong expertise in other JVM backend languages genuinely relevant as well. Other relevant technologies are MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and our environment is AWS.
