Job Description
In this position you will assist the legal team with various administrative and legal tasks. This role involves supporting the Legal & Compliance Counsel in preparing legal documents, conducting research, and ensuring compliance with legal standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Your key responsibilities
Legal research and analysis:
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles.
- Review and analyze legal documents to detect potential risks.
Document preparation and management:
- Draft, review, and maintain standard documents including non-disclosure agreements, letters of intent, payment guarantees, and general terms and conditions.
- Assist in the preparation, negotiation, and signing of contracts.
- Follow up on contracts and manage contract lifecycles.
Project assistance:
- e.g., assist with the "contract management - digitization" project.
Policy implementation:
- Assist in implementing company policies, such as GDPR and Anti Money Laundering Policy.
- Ensure policies are implemented and monitored effectively.
Document handling:
- Request, review, and correctly store various legal documents (e.g., end-user declarations, company structure extracts, UBO statements).
- Handle the legalization and notarization of documents (including visits to the notary).
Claims management:
- Manage cargo claims by sending notices of default and compiling dossiers for insurers.
- Have a basic understanding of Incoterms.
Client-specific documentation:
- Fill in standard templates for each client.
Administrative support:
- Provide administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
- Prepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field.
- 2-3 years of paralegal or similar experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Fluent in English and Dutch, French is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Can-do attitude and able to go the extra mile when needed.
- Familiarity with legal databases and research tools.
- Willingness to follow necessary training or having equivalent on-the-job experience to build a strong understanding of key corporate housekeeping and legal compliance concepts and terminology.
- Flexible, assertive and discreet.
