Liquor Store Manager
An established wine and spirit retailer in the City of Miami Gardens for over 25 years. The Store Manager will be responsible for executing the mission of the store. The Store Manager, will assist in ensuring the image of the store remains positive and supportive in the community. The Store Manager will oversee the entire store staff which will consist of a supervisor, sets of day and night time employees, store security officers and delivery drivers. The Store Manager will be instrumental in planning and organizing community events. The store has incorporated delivery services to its fleet of services, and the Store Manager will be responsible for the management and oversight of this service. The Store Manager will work collaboratively with the C.E.O., and the supervisor to elevate the posture of the store as a premium wine and spirit provider.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Oversee the daily operations of the retail store and delivery services.
● Assist in the development and implementation plan to ensure sales goals are met monthly for the retail store and the delivery services.
● Ensuring the retail store opens and closes on-time, and the delivery services are operational during operation times.
● Serves as a working supervisor, participating in sales of goods, stocking, and customer service as necessary.
● Oversees and directs the maintenance of data needed for accurate accounting and other operating records (for retail store and delivery):
o Records and balances daily receipts and disbursements
o Checks invoices to catch and correct any errors
o Submits daily cash and sales records
o Checks time cards for accuracy
o Assures cash register balances at the end of each shift
Mange the point of sales process, by establishing consistent procedures for the accounting of sales.
● Develop and implement operational procedures including customer service objectives, operating plans, advertising strategies, purchase plans, store improvements and layouts.
● Establish and implement procedures to maintain strict compliance of all applicable laws and regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
● Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability.
● Review and authorize all vendor requests for disbursements.
● Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inventory audits of all products in the store.
● Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial and inventory reports.
● Implement and supervise internal controls to minimize loss of store assets and inventory.
● Determine products and brands to be carried by studying and researching sales trends and customer buying preferences. Confer with beverage industry consultants on a regular basis.
● Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, implement purchasing plans and maintain contact with suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting sales goals.
● Supervise the purchase of all products with an emphasis on evaluating deals to maximize profitability.
● Supervise the receiving and storage of products.
● Ensure the delivery team is equipped with the tools needed to operate effectively and efficiently.
● Assisting in preparing advertising to ensure effective customer draw, image and return (social media, print and/or radio/TV).
● Supervise, train and assist employees like Sales Representatives and Retail Store Clerks in customer service, store maintenance and product promotions.
● Implement cross-training of employees and Assistant Managers to maintain productivity at all times.
● Effectively manage and maintain a strong workforce of staff.
● Conduct annual employee evaluations and reviews per current personnel policy.
● Develop and maintain the schedule for employees.
● Hire and train as needed to ensure adequate personnel is on hand to provide outstanding customer service.
● Review and authorize all payroll disbursements
● Ensure the housekeeping and overall maintenance and security of buildings, surrounding grounds and all equipment is well kept.
● Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
Abilities
● Knowledge of Federal, State and City laws and regulations related to liquor sales.
● Knowledge of primary retail and liquor store principles and procedures.
● Knowledge of safety procedures and “right to refuse” sales.
● Knowledge of liquor trainings including loss control and Beverage Alcohol Training.
● Ability to operate basic business software programs:
o Knowledge of computer and point of sale systems.
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
o Knowledge of general accounting practices sufficient to manage a store budget.
o Knowledge of computer assisted inventory maintenance and control.
● Knowledge of types of liquor, beer and wine, and ability to suggest selections suitable to customer’s needs.
● Skilled in displaying merchandise and retail products.
● Ability to maintain effective, positive and respectful working relationships with the community, customers and coworkers.
● Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and staff.
● Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
● Self-motivated leadership.
● Strong Organization and Customer Skills.
Preferred Qualifications
● Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Merchandise Retailing or related field.
● Previous alcohol beverage industry experience.
● One (1) or more years’ experience as a Liquor Store Manager.
● Two (2) or more years’ experience in a retail setting including supervisory responsibilities.

● This position requires the employee to work alone, with others, and have contact with the public.
● Activities that will occur continuously, 5-8 hours: sitting, walking, standing, verbal communication, hearing, repetitive motions.
● Activities that will occur frequently, 2-5 hours: problem solving, written communication, interpersonal skills, grasping, reaching, feeling.
● Activities that occur occasionally, up to 2 hours: lifting, carrying, reaching, hand/eye/foot coordination bending, twisting, work in a cooler.
● Activities that occur infrequently, less than 1 hour, stooping, kneeling, reaching at, above, and below shoulder level with the right, left, and both shoulders, and lifting. Physical strength to lift/carry/move moderately heavy cases (minimum of 50 pounds) of merchandise frequently, move kegs (minimum of 65 pounds) stock shelves/coolers and assist customers with carryout and other lifting or moving as required for the position.
