Job Description

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you'll design and implement scalable, high-performance machine learning systems to support DeviantArt's vibrant online community. You'll play a key role in building innovative solutions that enhance user experiences and foster creativity within a high-traffic environment.

  • Develop and improve algorithms for recommendations and classification to enhance user experiences  

  • Implement and deploy reliable machine learning systems for an active online art community

  • Build end-to-end systems, from data ingestion to serving results in production  

  • Stay up-to-date with developments in data and machine learning engineering, applying them to DeviantArt systems and goals

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning or closely related disciplines

  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms, especially for recommendation and classification

  • Experience designing and deploying cloud-based production systems

  • Expertise with large-scale data processing and machine learning infrastructure

  • Familiarity with Python and technologies like Apache Spark, AWS, and PyTorch

  • Knowledge of large language models and their applications to recommendation and classification

  • Experience with serverless approaches or large-scale search engines like Elasticsearch or Vespa – an advantage

This is a hybrid position, and the team is expected to come to the office 1 day per week.

We believe the best innovation happens when we mix deep focus work with in-person connection. While you'll work from home most of the week, we require this person to be in our Vancouver office every Thursday.

The approximate base compensation is $165,000 - 200,000 CAD In addition to base pay you will receive company RSUs as part of the compensation package. 

The final offer may vary and will be determined by various factors including candidate profile and ideal qualifications.

  • Location: Candidates must be currently located in the Greater Vancouver Area, BC.

  • Work Authorization: Candidates must possess current, valid work authorization to work legally in Canada without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
