Software Engineer - Payin Platform
- Full-time
- Compensation: EUR 4250 - EUR 5750 - monthly
Company Description
Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.
Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.
More about our mission and what we offer.
Job Description
The Payin Platform team owns the layer that powers money entering Wise. We abstract payment methods such as ACH, Apple Pay, Open Banking, and Bank Transfer into shared services and APIs, so product teams build on one reliable platform instead of solving the same problems again and again. We handle high-volume transactions at scale, where correctness and reliability are non-negotiable.
As part of the team, you will build and improve the platform capabilities that many other Wise domains rely on, such as payment sessions and payment-method abstractions. You will contribute to shaping how we solve problems, help move work forward towards clear, shippable milestones, and design clean, well-documented APIs for payment processing. Across everything you touch you will care about system correctness and reliability, and you will take an active part in code review, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Qualifications
Technical Excellence
3+ years of experience with Java or other JVM-based languages, and hands-on experience with the Spring framework.
A track record of writing clean, maintainable code and a strong belief in best practices like code reviews, open feedback, and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with backend development, including databases (SQL/NoSQL), synchronous/asynchronous communication, and distributed systems.
Experience with web development technologies such as REST APIs, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
The ability to design technical solutions that balance latency, throughput, adaptability and scalability.
A passion for learning new technologies, tools, and patterns to solve problems effectively.
Product Mindset
A customer-first approach — you prioritize work that solves real customer pain points and use data to drive decisions.
The ability to take ownership of problems, propose solutions, and drive projects end-to-end to deliver measurable impact.
A knack for identifying opportunities to deliver value faster and providing constructive feedback on product and design decisions.
Collaboration
Strong communication skills — you can break down complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences and collaborate effectively across teams.
A proactive mindset — you take initiative to improve our codebase, architecture, and processes.
A passion for knowledge sharing — you enjoy fostering a culture of learning within the team.
