Job Description

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment used in production of wire and any necessary support equipment, including wire drawing equipment, air compressors, boilers, fork trucks, pumps,  D.C. motors and controllers, furnaces, waste water treatment system and other related equipment.

  • Starting Base Pay - $23.76 
  • $1.00 Shift differential (3pm to 7am)
  • Skill Base pay will be added
  • Monthly Gainshare Bonus (after 120 days)
  • Contractual raises
  • Benefits start day one

Responsibilities

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. 
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.  Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.  Lubricates and cleans parts.  Starts devices to test their performance.  Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for new installed machines and equipment such as conveyors and programmable controllers. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Uses oxygen/acetylene, plasma, SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW welding and cutting equipment to make machinery repairs, fabricate new parts, and build needed production accessories from raw materials.
  • Regularly performs safety inspection in area and corrects problems where possible. Reports other problems to Team Supervisor for corrective action. .
  • Assures that finished work/products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Performs any other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned

  • Must show initiative as part of job responsibility. 
  • College or technical school certificate or two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
