Job Description

The Data Engineer I contributes to the credit union by participating in the design, development, and maintenance of efficient and resourceful data marts, data pipeline processes, and other database related solutions. The Data Engineer I has an intermediate understanding of the methodologies and techniques relevant to a modern data warehouse system.

Essential Functions

  • Development Creates and/or updates ETL processes. Creates and/or updates database schemas.
  • Maintenance Provides technical support and problem resolution for customer inquiries regarding data warehouse infrastructure. Monitors operating efficiency of existing data warehouse systems.
  • Communication/Documentation Develops partnerships with the consumers of the data warehouse resources and/or various data marts to better understand business needs. Maintains records to document data warehouse development and revisions.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a similar relevant field preferred
  • 1+ years' experience in the field of data engineering, data analysis, database development, or data warehousing required
  • 1+ years of Financial Institution experience preferred

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Database core skills
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the following:
  • Database architecture.
  • Modern data warehousing concepts and practices.
  • Relational data modeling and architecture.
  • Development and maintenance of various data pipeline processes.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the following technologies:
  • Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and/or other ETL products.
  • Structured query language (T-SQL, ANSI SQL, SparkSQL, etc.) and Python (preferred).
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • (preferred) Experience with Azure DevOps (formerly VSTS) and TFVC and/or Git version control systems.
  • (preferred) Familiarity with Azure and/or other Cloud concepts, specifically involving databases and/or data warehousing solutions in the cloud.
  • (preferred) Familiarity with Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Other skills
  • Must be comfortable working in highly collaborative environments.
  • Must be able to conduct presentations in group settings in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to learn new and emerging concepts very quickly.
  • Must be able to maintain good productivity in developing efficient code and database designs in a very timely manner, with defect rates kept to a minimum.
  • (preferred) Experience with Agile development processes, such as Scrum or Kanban.

Additional Information

PAY RANGE: $79,664 to $92,955 Annually (I14), plus 10% annual target bonus.
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, location and internal pay equity.
