WL headquarters are located in St. George, Utah. A Utah resident is preferred for this position.

Location: Utah resident preferred, may work remotely, with regular visits to the corporate office

At Williamsburg Learning (WL), the Human Resources Specialist provides critical support and facilitation to owners, executives, and employees of the company. We use a PEO for HR services such as Payroll, and ACA reporting. The HR rep is a multi-dimensional role which blends key abilities of time management, project management, interpersonal communication, and administrative support to empower and protect the organization.

Reporting to: Williamsburg Learning CEO or CTO

Hours: 20-30 per week, some between 9:00 AM-5:00 PM MT 

Compensation: DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with CEO and Director of Talent Aquisition to recruit highly qualified staff and faculty
  • Work closely with WL's PEO to meet the needs of employees and obtain support
  • Interview, assess, background check, hire, onboard, transition and exit employees and contractors
  • Conduct reference checks and administer assessments to candidates
  • Lead progressive discipline conversations and activities as needed
  • Identify and implement industry-leading practices in HR policy, compensation, benefits, staffing, employee relations, workers compensation and compliance
  • Anticipate, develop, and facilitate organizational development efforts including performance evaluation, progressive discipline, succession planning, and training activities to support strategic objectives
  • Create and maintain job descriptions and monitor the appropriateness of FLSA status and salaries
  • Draft, execute and amend employment agreements, employment offers, and other documents
  • Protect WL's interests regarding all local, state, and federal legal employment obligations
  • Communicate regularly with Controller and Accountant regarding payroll and compensation
  • Submit regular expense reports
  • Communicate with Director of Licensure and faculty members regarding licensing requirements, and assist with the submission of licensing documentation to state agencies
  • Communicate regularly with partner school human resources personnel to coordinate and improve communication with staff and faculty
  • Assist partner schools with hiring needs as requested
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure the use of annual performance evaluations
  • Develop policies and participate in updating the company handbook as needed
  • Respond to all unemployment and wage claims and employment verifications
  • Maintain manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g. background information personnel files, vacancy listings, applicant tracking, anniversary awards and gifts, staffing spreadsheets, compensation records, HR sections of personnel website, etc.) for the purpose of providing accurate information in compliance with regulatory requirements and established guidelines
  • Participate in any compliance-related reporting requirements 
  • Develop systems to enhance and exceed business objectives
  • Work closely with other administrators to design and complete projects and tasks
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisors and co-workers
  • Participate in work sponsored professional development activities, as well as be committed to personal growth 
  • Maintain the utmost confidentiality of company protected information and records

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required- Human Resources Management or business-related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in HR 
  • Experience in the development and administration of HR compensation plans
  • Experience in organizational design and effectiveness
  • Experience managing performance
  • Adaptable-WL thrives on making changes for the better
  • Experience with assessing talent
  • Proven working experience in education office environment preferred, but not required
  • Ability to build relationships with people of varying backgrounds
  • Detail-oriented and thorough
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work autonomously with little supervision, supporting an online educational environment
  • Submit fingerprints and pass a criminal history and background check
  • Fluid with learning to use new workflows and software apps including Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Google Forms, Asana, and others
  • US resident required, Utah resident preferred
