Job Description
About the Role
Race Strategy is where split second decisions meet serious data science, and this role sits right at the heart of it.
You'll provide the Strategy team with objective data and analysis to support decision making, from pre-event reporting through to live sessions and post-event review, including counterfactual analysis that helps the team learn and improve. You'll also help build and maintain the databases and trackers that the strategy group relies on, working closely with in-house software development along the way.
This role is based at our factory in Grove, UK and is required to work across race weekends from our Ops Room.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, accurate information to the necessary teams to support real time decision making
- Support run plans for free practice, qualifying and test sessions
- Produce pre, during and post event reporting materials, including competitor analysis
- Compile and maintain data for the strategy group's databases and trackers
- Feed back to in-house software development to help shape new features and improvements
- Carry out analysis for Race Strategy and the wider business as needed
About You
You'll have a degree in Engineering, Maths or Physics, and at least two years of technical experience in a high-level motorsport environment, ideally in Performance Systems or Vehicle Performance. You're comfortable with large, messy datasets and can turn them into clear, actionable insight, and just as comfortable explaining that insight clearly when things are moving fast. You're also happy to work weekends and travel when the need arises.
- Confident in Python, R or MATLAB, applied in a real engineering or data-driven setting
- A solutions-first mindset with an innovative approach to problem solving
- Strong communicator under pressure, with strong attention to detail
- Collaborative by nature, used to working across technical teams
Desirable but not essential: knowledge of telemetry and simulation data, some machine learning exposure, and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms.
