Job Description
The Division of Ophthalmology in the Department of Surgery is seeking an Ophthalmologist for cataract surgery -term (locum) position.
The Division of Ophthalmology is a collaborative team of 12 ophthalmologists who provide ophthalmic care in the Brampton/Etobicoke community. We are seeking a locum surgeon to help the division meet its funded cataract surgery volumes under Ontario’s quality-based procedures program. The locum will operate at Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
This is a temporary position beginning as early as December 2026. The locum will operate in operating room time released by members of the division as it becomes available. The position does not carry allocated operating room time and is not a recruitment to active staff. The locum will be responsible for the pre-operative assessment and post-operative care of their surgical patients. The locum will also take part in the division’s on-call schedule, providing emergent, urgent and acute care ophthalmology coverage for Osler’s Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre and inpatient units, including NICU coverage for ROP screening. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees.
About the program
The Ophthalmology program at Osler offers a dynamic and collaborative environment for general and subspecialty ophthalmologists in one of the fastest growing community hospitals in Ontario. Besides cataract surgery, our program supports a broad range of subspecialty services including surgical cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastics, pediatrics and medical retina. The locum will join a supportive, collaborative team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care.
