Job Description

Purpose of the role: 

Codify vision for the customer-centric product and define product requirements, as well as create and prioritize the backlog to ensure high-value product features are delivered to the customers as communicated and expected.  Understand customer’s business to enable innovation and solution creation before customers even know they have a need.


Core Functions: 

1.    Customer Product Experience 

Initiate collaborative innovation with and through customers input. Lead & facilitate product innovation meetings with customer advocates. Elicit participation, product input and business requirements from key customer advocates and Wi-Tronix Customer Care Managers.  Design and propose product solutions to customers & Customer Care Managers. Lead bi-weekly Product Sprint Demonstrations showcasing new product features; capturing customer feedback, taking copasetic notes and listing out customer and team feedback, product improvements and possibly new ideas & features.

Research and comprehend customer’s business in detail to enable innovation of product and solution creation before customers even know they have a need.

Develop, maintain and communicate 4-quarter look ahead customer facing roadmap.  Create and communicate roadmap and vision for key product initiatives.  Actively collaborate and work with Marketing and Tech Services to promote training for updates and enhancements so 100% of customers are aware of releases.

2. Product Requirement Definition & Acceptance of Done 

Work diligently to scope product requirements, ensuring that each requirement provides high value and meets customer and industry innovation needs.  Look at the whole picture and all stakeholders into consideration and be able to discern which features bring the most business value to the product. Own responsibility for defining and standing by decisions on product feature requirements. Effectively and powerfully inspiring product feature vision and engaging Agile team give to want to build excellent products.

Lead meetings with the Agile development team and explain product requirements, and the big picture reasons for the requirements and specifically how these requirements impact the customers’ operation and experience. Ensure the team understands the items in the product backlog to the level needed and clarify murky expectations. Elicit questions and provide answers to the Agile development team about specific product feature details. Be confident and comfortable making decisions on the spot. Gain agreement and commitment with the Agile team on what will be delivered by the end of the sprint and the definition of done.

Make sure the Agile Team gets the right feedback, so they can make improvements during sprints.

3. Prioritizing the Backlog: Team Effectiveness 

Own responsibility and be empowered for optimizing Agile team’s effectiveness. Define and prioritize the backlog. Look at the whole picture and all take stakeholders into consideration and be able to discern which features bring the most business value to the product and in which order. Decide what is on the product backlog and clearly express product backlog items, order the items in the product backlog to best achieve goals and missions. Optimize the value of the work that the Agile development team performs and take responsibility for getting the most value for the least cost. Ensure that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the Agile team will work on next. Report concerns and ask for help as needed. 

Qualifications

·         Bachelors of Science in Engineering - Electrical, Computer or Mechanical

·         Certification: CSPO or PSPO preferred

·         Rail Industry knowledge preferred

·         Wi-Tronix product knowledge preferred

·         Experience with object-oriented programming concepts is preferred
