Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role

As People Leader – Emergency Triage, you’ll lead a team of skilled nurses and paramedics delivering exceptional teletriage care for 111 callers through Hato Hone St John and Wellington Free Ambulance clinical hubs. Your focus will be on ensuring clinically safe, accurate advice and connecting patients to the right care at the right time.

You’ll drive performance by meeting service level targets, supporting team members to achieve KPIs, and upholding professional and clinical standards, ethical practices, and regulatory codes. This role also champions Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, fostering health equity for Māori and embedding cultural awareness in everyday practice.

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of nurses and paramedics, ensuring KPIs and service targets are met.
  • Model Whakarongorau values and foster a culture of safety, wellbeing, and engagement.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and support to deliver clinically safe, exceptional teletriage care.
  • Build strong relationships with ambulance partners and collaborate across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with operational and clinical processes and provide on-call support when required.

Ōu wheako ōu mātauranga hoki | Qualifications and Experience

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse or Paramedic with current practising certificate
  • 5+ years post registration nursing or paramedic experience with 2+ years management experience, ideally providing leadership to large teams
  • Ideally, experience within a telehealth or health technology organisation
